Outfit planning can be hard, even when going to ball games.
If know me, you probably know that I love a good baseball game. You can find me going to games often during the summertime, and dressing for the occasion. When I am not at the ballpark, I still like to throw on a jersey and cheer for my favorite team from the comfort of my home.
Baseball is an all-around good time, filled with excitement and anticipation. It can easily be the center of a family night, date night, and night out with friends, which is just one reason I love going to games.
Fashion at a sporting event isn't the most important part, though it shouldn't be forgotten.
In the summertime, understand that there is a possibility that the weather might be searing. It's ideal that your outfit is both weather appropriate and comfortable. If you're like me, you will go to games to watch it through, stay all nine innings with friends or family, enjoying a hot dog, and taking photos. If so, it's even more crucial that you are wearing comfortable clothes so you can last the heat that comes with baseball season.
Not only is it important for me to feel comfortable, it's also important that I have fun with my outfits and feel good about what I am wearing.
***BUT I KEEP IN MIND: Hats are ALWAYS a good idea in the summer. I hardly go to a game without one. The first time I went to a game without it I regretted it because a foul ball went my direction and it was near impossible to see it with the sun blaring in my eyes. I am fine, the ball went past a few groups behind me and somebody caught it (and guess what, the person who caught it was wearing a hat). If you don't own a hat, I stress greatly on getting one, or at least getting a pair of sunglasses. Not bringing a hat or sunglasses to the game because it "isn't fashionable" or "doesn't look good" is just not worth the possibility of a foul ball to the head. This mostly depends on where you are sitting in the park, though.
Anyways! This blogpost is for those die-hard baseball fans who have jerseys or other sports merchandise and want to root for their favorite team, and for the casual fan who just wants to go to a baseball game for the experience. I will help you work around your wardrobe to create the perfect weather-appropriate, comfortable, and sporty gameday outfits!
Outfits for the Fanatic
I am categorizing the "Fanatic" outfit as typically including a team logo on some type of baseball item, such as a team jersey or cap.
Outfit #1
This look is a classic fan outfit. You'll see so many people wearing an outfit like this in the park, but they're wearing it because it really is just the perfect game outfit to cheer for your home team!
Outfit #2
This look is great on those more breezy days. You can throw a light cardigan or button-down. Pair it with a team hat and Voilà, a casual yet simple gameday outfit!
Outfit #3
This look is my favorite. I just love a good old-school sporty jacket look. This is a nice outfit for a game that is later in the day, when it is still sunny but then becomes a little chillier at night.
Outfits for the Casual Fan
I am categorizing the "Casual Fan" outfit as having no team logos on clothing items.
Outfit #1
A plain baseball hat is a great option if you do not have a specific team you are rooting for.
Outfit #2
This outfit screams comfort, with low shoes and a breezy dress.
Outfit #3
This style is a little more "girly", but still very simple. You can add jewelry to dress up this outfit as wanted!
